Footprints upon the Water

There are footprints upon the waves
of an angry stormy sea,
They were left there a long time ago
by a poor man from Galilee.

He had no wife, no hearth, no home.
Hedgerows are where he slept.
He lived this life of sacrifice
to pay down our eternal debt.

He begged not to drink of death,
but he was a faithful, obedient Son
When he finished praying, he said
“Father thy will, not mine be done.

The soldiers that came for Him
nailed Him cruelly to the tree.
He asked God to forgive them,
as He died for you and me.

There are footprints upon the waves
of an angry stormy sea.
They were left there a long time ago
by a humble man from Galilee.
