When the World is too much with you

When the world is too much with you,
and your heart is filled with pain,
when you have been knocked down,
and you don’t want to get up again,
let a little child lead you,
take their out stretched hand.
Though they are of such tender years,
somehow they understand.

Please don’t cry they whisper,
as they hug you tight.
Have sweet dreams as you sleep,
tomorrow, things will be alright.

They give their love so freely,
and ask for so little in return.
The lessons they can teach us,
are the ones that we should learn.

There is no happiness like a child’s laughter.
No sadness like a child’s tears.
Gladly take what they bring you.
Hold it fast throughout life’s years.

When you are lost and lonely
and have no place to turn,
look deep within yourself,
remember the lessons you have learned.

When the world is too much with you,
and your heart is filled with pain,
when you have been knocked down,
and you don’t want to get up again,
let a little child lead you,
take their out stretched hand.
Though they are of such tender years,
somehow they understand.

Please don’t cry they whisper,
as they hug you tight.
Have sweet dreams as you sleep,
tomorrow, things will be alright.
