A Star’s Demise

In bright flaming fury
you blaze across the darkness.
Fire fills the sky with your passing.
Trees bow in the wind you make,
in fear, wild creatures quake.
You shake the earth.
The quiet sea turns into steam.
Did you come from the Pleiades?
Was Orion’s Belt your home?
What made you give up your splendour?
Seek out self-destruction.
You have no more glory.
There is nothing now left,
but a memory of your passing.
